Design for Health & Wellbeing Lab

Overview.

The Design for Health & Wellbeing (DHW) Lab was a five year project between AUT and the Auckland DHB. The DHW Lab was made up of a multi-disciplinary team that aimed to design better healthcare experiences with patients, their families and staff. It was embedded within Auckland City Hospital in order to be close to the problems we were solving, and the people we were designing with.

The DHW Lab worked on a variety of hospital-based design projects. They spanned a range of design disciplines such as Communication & Service, Digital, Product and Spatial & Environmental design. The lab created and facilitated solutions to improve the experience of healthcare for patients, families and staff. The DHW Lab had a core team of designers and researchers, but also supported AUT students to undertake real projects within the hospital as part of their postgraduate research.
