Co-designing child-caring products for mothers with Spinal Cord Injury

Overview.

This practice-led research applies feminist disability theory and co-design to explore the interplay between mothers with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) and child-caring products.

In doing so, Participatory Action Research (PAR) will be applied as an overarching methodology within three distinct but related cycles of collaborative activity. Although over the year’s problems surrounding health problems, societal issues and disability have been investigated by multiple disciplines, there is little data regarding the functionality, usability and desirability of designing child caring products for mothers with SCI. This research aims to explore new opportunities to improve meaningful experiences for mothering with spinal cord injury.
