Kei roto tō tātou rongoā

Overview.

Whānau Māori don’t always have the resources to help them do this. Many also suffer from the effects of whānau violence and removal of their tamariki. This research sought to learn with whānau and communities, and finding out what may have worked for whānau to reduce harm. Together with whānau, we hope to create ways to lower whānau harm from violence and the removal of mokopuna from whānau.

The Kei roto tō tātou rongoā project has been funded by the Health Research Council of New Zealand to learn from whānau and communities about their experiences, and ways to keep themselves safe from family harm. We are working in partnership with whānau and communities in seven locations across Aotearoa, to design a prevention approach to improve whānau ora and reduce whānau harm from violence and the unnecessary removal of mokopuna from whānau.

Good Health Design has been involved to provide design expertise. Jordan Tane led the design work through her masters research, supported by the wider Good Health Design team. Read more about Jordan's masters project here.
